Beyond our Bible studies and social gatherings, we often seek out service projects in the area to pour out our love and resources for organizations who need it most. Our projects seek to include our children as we serve others so that they can participate as well and learn the importance of helping others.
Our most consistent service project is providing monthly meals to the Ronald McDonald House, which keeps families with sick children close to each other and the care and resources they need. Serving at the RMH is a great opportunity for our own children to help shop, cook and deliver a meal and learn the joy of serving others.
Opportunities to serve around the holidays:
When you think of the holidays, thoughts may include warm memories of family sharing a spectacular home-cooked meal, and of course, gifts spilling out from beneath an ornate tree. For many of our friends and neighbors, the holidays mean something entirely different. For many, the holidays carry an unmanageable financial and emotional burden. Children and parents alike go without gifts of any kind and many go without food. The Sharing Christmas program matches donors with hundreds of local families to bring a brighter Christmas to families in need.
Samaritan’s Purse offers a great opportunity to fill a shoebox full of gifts to bless boys and girls in need around the world while introducing them to Jesus Christ! Each shoebox is delivered to a child along with the story of Jesus Christ. The amazing journey of a shoebox gift begins with you and results in evangelism, discipleship and multiplication.
